When foreign buyers explore financing options in Panama, one of the most common assumptions is that local banks will rely heavily on U.S. or Canadian credit scores. In reality, Panama banks do not evaluate credit the same way North American lenders do — and understanding this distinction early can help buyers plan far more effectively.

While international credit history may be reviewed as part of the overall profile, it is not the primary deciding factor when qualifying for a mortgage in Panama.

How Panama Banks Evaluate Foreign Buyers

For foreign buyers, banks are far more interested in:
