Remodeling in Panama - Casa Bonita Penthouse
When the apartment sold, the new owners didn't like the "jungle" themed décor. We removed dozens of silk plants to allow your eye to travel through the apartment to the view beyond. Next we raised the ceilings over three feet, and added spectacular gypsum designs to the ceilings that included 3 layers of recessed lighting. By adding two elegant chandeliers, the big room had plenty of light. Although the apartment hadn't gained any square footage, the size felt dramatically larger due to the higher ceilings.
Living Room
The furniture itself was good quality so instead of buying new furniture, we refinished it to give it a cohesive "Balinese" style of dark wood with light fabrics. The previous beige furniture blended in with the huge white walls, whereas the new darker furniture became a nice contrast with white walls.
Master Bedroom
In the master bedroom, we removed the posts from the 4-poster bed, refinished all the wood in the room--the bed, side tables, the art frames, and even the wicker club chair. The wood went from a blah-beige to a rich Balinese brown. We then replaced the wood blinds with curtains, added premium linens, and changed the cushions in the club chair.
